… big polar bear. He was staring at me. I was staring back. I could hardly move. I understood I had to shout to warn my friends, but I could not. I was in shock! Suddenly I saw another bear in the distance. It was followed by three little bears. It was a bear family - with mother, father and three sons. They did not seem hungry and I felt relaxed, because in this condition they were less dangerous. At that moment I made up my mind to wake my friends. I wanted them to solve this bear problem. I have to add that it was my first expedition, but some members of our group were rather experienced . when my friend Nick saw this bear, he was happy, because it was the very bear he had met during his previous trip the Arctic and he roared: “Ohh, my great arctic friend! I am so happy to see you again! We have not met for ages. What I see, you have a family, you are father of three sons. How great of you! Will you introduce me to your family?” We could not believe our own eyes, but the bear seemed to understand everything what was going on and was also glad to meet Nick. We gave them (bear and his family) sweets and tined milk. We continued our way to the South Pole accompanied by a happy family of bears.
