with a polar bear cub. So I was frightened, thinking, that its mother-bear was somewhere close. Then I noticed that the bear`s ear was damaged. The animal was growling of pain. I looked around and saw that its mother-bear wasn’t there. I thought that a she-bear had died. So the polar bear cub stayed alone and an accident happened to it. I took it to our place. The bear was scared but I had nothing to feed it. I felt a pity of a little polar bear cub. But fortunately we had our dog and its puppy with us. When the puppy saw the polar bear cub it began to play with the animal. And when the puppy felt hungry it came to its mother and the bear followed it. The bear cub was allowed to eat together with our puppy. We gave the bear a name. So it became Lucky. Our dog Nayda nursed Lucky as good as its own puppy. Some time ago we had to come back. By that time our Lucky grew up that’s why it didn’t want to come along with us. I understood that its home was there. We said our good-byes to the bear and left for our home. During our second expedition through the Arctic I met a huge polar bear. But I wasn’t afraid of it any more. I recognized it. That was our Lucky who had the damaged ear.
