Before I took part in the Expedition through the Arctic, I had lived by a schedule. In the Arctic you lose sense of time. Having 24 hours of sunlight we could start our hiking at what we thought was 3 PM but it was actually 3 AM.
Our entire being was focused on one thing: survival.
That day or night (I can’t say for sure) I was on polar bear watch while the others were sleeping.

a polar bear.
Its face was angry so I was frightened. First, I wanted to run away but the bear fixed the door. Then I tried to shout for the help but I had no voice.
I didn’t know what to do. I smiled and said: 'Hello, little bear!' I was shocked when I heard the answer: 'Hello, little bear!' I asked: 'How are you?' And the bear replied: ''How are you?' Then I said: 'The weather is nice, isn’t it?' And the answer was the same: 'The weather is nice, isn’t it?' The bear repeated everything!
I danced -it danced too. I jumped – it did the same. I spoke – it repeated. I thought and thought how to make the bear go home. I said: 'Good bye!' and closed the door suddenly. After that I heard: 'Good bye!'
I waited for a long time. Then I opened the door carefully. There was no bear and I was happy! But nobody believed me because they thought that it was my dream.
