Your home is here
Разбойников Григорий Дмитриевич. 9 лет, 3 класс. Your home is here. Low.
Snowy is a little polar bear cub. He lives in the northern Arctic with his family. Mummy bear, Daddy bear and Snowy can see ice and snow everywhere every day. They like swimming from ice floe to ice floe and digging holes in snow banks.
One day Snowy says, "I'm tired of this ice and snow. I'm going to live where I can see something quite different."
"But your home is here! Look! The snowflakes are dancing in the air! They are so beautiful! Listen to the snow! It's humming a very funny song, "scoosh-scoosh, scoosh-scoosh", his mother tells him.
"Nothing can stop me", answers Snowy. "I'm packing my things and ...
Daddy bear says ,“No, you can’t go alone.
It’s too dangerous!”
“Let’s go to bed”, Mummy bear suggests kindly.
Their home was worm and protected of wind.
When parents bears fell asleep Snowy took his things and went out. He found a big ice floe, put some fish on it and pushed. Freedom at last!
On and on he sailed and sailed.
Suddenly the little cub saw a land. Snowy looked at yellow sand.
What a hot colour! He saw green palm-trees and bamboos, and parrots were singing in them.
How many different colours he watched: red, green, yellow, brown, pink, orange, blue and violet.
There was no white colour. Oh, what a wonderful land it is! The little bear cub was happy.
He heard noise. He thought, “What is it?” The cub turned. A strange white and black bear stood in front of him.
Snowy was a brave cub, he said, “Hello. I’m a polar bear. My name is Snowy. And who are you?”
“Hi, my name is Panda. I have never seen a bear like you”, answered Panda, “and they are my friends Tom and Pam”.
Two macaques jumped down from the palm-tree.
Pam asked, “Where are you from, Snowy?”
“I’m from the northern Arctic. The Arctic is white.
I wanted to see different colours. So I’m here.”
“There are a lot of colours in Asia. We can show you. Let’s be friends”, said the animals.
“Ok. Let’s play”, suggested Snowy.
And they started to play hide and seek and leapfrog. After that they went for a walk. Snowy slept all that night quietly. His coloured dreams were good.
Next day the sun was shining brightly in the sky. Snowy was hot. He jumped into the ocean and swam. He came out of water but it was still hot.
Snowy cries, “It’s too hot! I want some ice or snow!”
The bear cub saw his friends. They had breakfast.
“I’d like to have something to eat. What are you eating?”
“Pam and I have bananas. Would you like some?”
“No. I don’t like bananas”, answered Snowy.
“I have bamboos. Would you like some bamboos? Bamboo is tasty”, said Panda.
“No. I don’t eat bamboos. I like to eat fishes or meat.”
“We don’t eat fishes or meat”, told his friends.
“What a pity. Who does?”
Pam said, “a big angry animal. His name is Tiger. But we are afraid of him.”
“I’m not afraid. Mummy bear says polar bears are the strongest animals.”
An old big Tiger lives in the jungle. At that moment he thought, “I want to eat somebody.
I’m as hungry as a hunter.” He saw a little white bear cub. What a surprise!
“Mr. Tiger. I want to eat some fishes or meat. Could you please tell me where I can get them?”
“Ha-ha-ha!” cried Tiger, “I don’t know where you can get them.
But I know where I can get my breakfast.” He jumped and Snowy began to run.
Tiger ran and ran after the cub. Tom and Pam threw a big coco nut at Tiger’s head.
He stopped and made roar. Snowy was safe.
Poor little Snowy. He sat near the water. He was crying.
“Why did I run away from the northern Arctic? It is hot here.
I want some ice and snow. I’m hungry. I want to see Mummy bear and Daddy bear.
I’m afraid of Tiger. I want to come back home.”
Panda, Pam and Tom came to the bear cub and said, “don’t cry, Snowy.
Mr. Pelican heard about your trouble and brought a fish for you.
He is old and wise. You can ask him for advice.”
Snowy looked at a big white bird with a fish in his bill.
Mr. Pelican put the fish near the cub and said, “you can ask Mr. Elephant to help.
He is the strongest animal in the jungle and he can bring a tree for you. You’ll go home.
Your ship will be the tree.”
“Thank you Mr. Pelican. Good, very good.
Follow me”, said Pam. And they found Mr. Elephant.
He brought a tree and put it in the water. Snowy jumped on the tree with the fish and said, “Thank you all for your help.
You are my friends. I’ll not forget you.”
“Good luck, Snowy! Good luck…” were the words that the worm southern wind brought him.
On and on he sailed. Suddenly the cub saw a big ice floe and his parents bears on it.
How glad he was! Mummy bear and Daddy bear looked for the son.
“Hello Mummy, hello Daddy! I’m so sorry.
I love you and I want to live with you! I like ice and snow!” cried Snowy.
“Let’s go home, Snowy”, said Mummy bear, “there is no place like home.”
