Snowy is a little polar bear cub. He lives in the northern Arctic with his family. Mummy bear, Daddy bear and Snowy can see ice and snow everywhere every day. They like swimming from ice floe to ice floe and digging holes in snow banks.
One day Snowy says, "I'm tired of this ice and snow. I'm going to live where I can see something quite different."
"But your home is here! Look!
The snowflakes are dancing in the air! They are so beautiful! Listen to the snow! It's humming a very funny song, "scoosh-scoosh, scoosh-scoosh", his mother tells him.
"Nothing can stop me", answers Snowy. "I'm packing my things and ...

going away!” “Take care of yourself, little silly bear!” said his mother.
Snowy found a big ice floe and flew to find unusual places.
The bear didn’t notice how he fell asleep. When he woke up he saw that the ice floe was too small. Suddenly a big sea-gull took him crying not to be afraid of anything.
It was so romantic! The little bear was admiring the blue ocean.
“What is it? Why is the ocean green?”, the bear cried.
The big sea-gull was tired and couldn’t keep Snowy. The little bear cub fell down and began to roll. Suddenly he bumped into a small kangaroo.
“Who are you? the kangaroo asked.
“I’m a polar bear from the Arctic ocean. My name is Snowy. What is your name?”
“I’m a kangaroo. Everybody calls me Roo.”
“Nice to meet you, Roo.”
“Pleased to meet you , too”, answered Snowy.
“Tell me , please ,where is snow and ice? Why is it too hot? Where the penguins and the walruses? the bear cub asked .
“Sorry, I don’t understand you. There is only hot sand here. My friends are the emu Li, the wombat Khru, the kookaburra Burra”, answered Roo.
“Wow, how interesting it is! Let’s make friends”, exclaimed the bear cub.
“OK”, said the kangaroo.
And two friends began to tell each other about their native places.
Then Snowy met the rabbit Martin, the bird kiwi. He even rode a zebra .
Little koala taught him to climb the trees and to eat the leaves of eucalyptuses.
Telling the truth they are not tasty. But the main problem for Snowy was the heat.
He began missing the ice, his mummy and daddy.
“Why are you sad? Are you going home? asked Roo.
“Let’s live with us”,added Khru
“We are real friends”, said Martin.
“I promise to come back one day”, answered Snowy.
Before flying on a back of a sea-gull , the friends gave the bear cub some presents: a very beautiful ostrich’s feather, nuts and bananas.
When Snowy came back home he told his parents about an unusual land of Australia.
But every time he repeated:” East or West home is best”.
